Synopsis from back of book:

TRUE LOVE’S FIRST KILL

Daniel looked up at me. His dark eyes searched my face. There was something different about those too familiar eyes. Maybe it was the way the orange light from the streetlamp illuminated his pupils. Maybe it was the way he stared without blinking. His eyes made him look . . . hungry.

Review: On first glance at this book you are instantly drawn into its beautiful cover. It is what first made me take an interest in it. The contrast between white skin and that eye catching purple mesmerized me. When reading the book, I found I could not put it down. I really appreciated the brief mention of “Of Mice and Men” by: Steinbeck in the first few pages! I found the mix of religion and paranormal romance quite intriguing. I really like how the story developed it delivered in every possible way I was looking for: great characters, storyline unwavering and a solid basis of facts that made the book relatable. Bree Despain has quite a gift for creating characters that are so true to the storyline and they all complimented each other brilliantly.

Everyone’s name in Grace’s family has a meaning. Grace’s happens to mean heavenly help, guidance, or mercy. As for her last name Divine well that is what the clergy thought the family was Divine. Pastor Divine Grace’s father has a upstanding reputation for helping the needy and just being a great pastor in general. Everything in the Divine families life is perfect and they set the example for all the other people in the community. Grace soon realizes though nothing is what it seems and the outer shell of her family that looks perfect really isn’t at all. When Daniel comes back into their lives Grace’s brother and mother are furious and want nothing to do with him. Grace has been drawn for years to Daniel and when he suddenly disappeared it was a painful stab in the chest. So now that he is back there are some major questions that Grace soon learns the answers to. Then mysterious disappearances threaten the community and everyone is terrified. How will Grace stop them? Daniel is the one thing that Grace absolutely can’t have but, aren’t promises meant to be broken?
