Synopsis From Back of The Book:
What if you didn't get a chance to say good-bye?
Lacey's world shatters when her dad is killed in a car accident. And secretly? She feels like it's her fault. If she hadn't taken her own sweet time getting ready that morning...well, it never would have happened. Her mom wouldn't be a basket case. Her brother Logan wouldn't drink. And her little brother would still have two parents.
But life goes on even if you don't want it to. And when Lacey gets the chance to make a difference in the lives of some people at school, she jumps at it. Except she didn't count on meeting a guy like Sam. Or that sometimes? Lemonade can be a pretty bitter drink to swallow.
Review: When reading After I was extremely moved. Kristen Harmel wrote so beautifully on a topic authors rarely touch and when they do, don't quite get how us teens see it. I found myself crying when reading this book I could totally relate to the message that Kristin was trying to send. After reading After my whole perspective on life and death has completely changed. I want to thank her for making me see things for what they are now!
Lacey's world changes after her father dies and she thinks it is all her fault. She thinks she has gotten over the loss of her father and wants everyone else to think that as well, but really inside she is a mess and is scrambling to put the pieces together. Her best friend has become mad for she thinks that Lacey isn't taking divorce as seriously as death. Feeling alone and kinda lost Lacey finds herself opening up to the new hot guy named Sam. Sam isn't what he seems to be though and Lacey at first blinds herself from the truth. I found their relationship very touching and kind.
After is a must read for anyone who has ever lost someone or has been through a divorce or just wants a good read. At times you want more from the book and if your patient it gives it to you. The only really big thing wrong with the book is that is was too short. Go run and yes I just said run to your local bookstore to pick up this fantastic read!!
